In this presentation with NextHop 2020, Paolo defines the challenges of monitoring BGP from an operator perspective, goes through a bit of history of BGP monitoring and finally introduces the BGP Monitoring Protocol (BMP).

The BMP protocol aims to streamline BGP monitoring, improve telemetry accuracy and offer a rich set of BGP-related information. The protocol is being standardized in the GROW Working Group at IETF where Paolo is actively involved by co-authoring several drafting efforts around BMP.
